Traffic Plan for 18.03.2017
Due to occurring of landslide at Ramsoo (near BDO office) damage was caused to the NHW at the said location. Though the road has been cleared-off by the concerned road maintenance agency and made worthy for movement of traffic, yet the width of the road at the said location is too narrow and not feasible for two-way traffic.
Therefore, subject to fair weather/ good condition of the road and clearance from Traffic Control Units, strict one way movement of traffic shall be allowed on NHW on 18.03.2017 (Saturday). The movement of traffic (excluding Trailers/multi-axle vehicles) shall be allowed from Srinagar towards Jammu side in a regulated manner. Movement of traffic (including convoys of Army, BSF, CRPF etc.) shall be allowed from Levdora (Qazigund) from 0700 hours and all these vehicles shall cross Jawahar tunnel by 1300 hours positively. However, cut off timing for all Jammu bound vehicles shall be 1000 hours at Pantha Chowk (Srinagar) beyond which no Jammu bound vehicle shall be allowed to cross the said location and instead they shall be parked at appropriate places in an orderly manner so that no hindrance is caused to the movement of normal traffic. This calls for close co-ordination between the field staff, especially Dy.SsP/DTIs deployed from Srinagar to Jawahar Tunnel. Strict implementation of prescribed cut off timings shall be ensured by one and all.
No movement of traffic including that of convoys of Army, BSF, CRPF etc. shall be allowed from Jammu towards Srinagar side on 18.03.2017 under any circumstances to ensure hassle free movement of traffic on the NHW.
Commuters are requested/advised that vehicles are not parked in any landslide/avalanche/vulnerable zones of NHW especially from Ramsoo - Jawahar Tunnel - Levdora under any circumstances. All the vulnerable/avalanche prone zones should be kept free from any kind of traffic to avoid any eventuality.
People are requested not to undertake journey on Srinagar-Jammu National Highway in case of bad weather. They should contact TCU Srinagar (01942450022, 2485396), TCU Ramban (9419993745) and TCU Jammu (01912459048, 9419147732) to get the status of the road before starting their journey. They shall also contact Traffic Police officers viz. IGP Traffic J&K (9419192362); SSP Traffic, Rural Kashmir (9419091281); SSP Traffic NHW (9596304020); Dy.SsP Traffic Udhampur/Reasi (9419013015); Ramban (9419185925); Banihal (9419233978) and Dy.SP Traffic, Kulgam/Qazigund (9796959260) in case of any assistance en-route.
