Kashmiri Student harassed by Police in Punjab | Student heads All J&K Students Union

Punjab:- 25-year-old Kashmiri boy  Tajamul Imran and his two friends were yesterday harassed by Police in Punjab.
They were harassed and were forced to leave the rented house in Zirakpur area of Punjab after police raided for "hidden weapons".
"It was 5:40 a.m and we were sleeping, when two policeman knocked on the door. I saw at least 15 other policemen who had cordoned off our house.
We were harassed just because we belongs to Kashmir. They asked us to show weapons. They repeatedly asked where we had hidden the weapons and explosives smuggled from Kashmir,". Imran said.
25-year-old Tajamul Imram belongs to south Kashmir district of Shopian, who completed his MBA from Swami Vivekanand Institute of Engineering and Technology in November,  was to appear for a placement session in college.
Tajamul Imran who also heads the All Jammu and Kashmir students Union, said that as a student activist he had earlier written about many incidents of harassment of Kashmiri students at various places to the Home Ministry's monitoring cell for Kashmiri students, but they never responded.
He also alleged that Police asked their landlord to throw them out of the house and the owner did so without wasting any time.
After incident we tried to get in touch with Jammu and Kashmir Chief minister Mehbooba Mufti's Complaint Monitoring Portal but did not get any response from there.
"They treated us like militants and i think it is better to pick a gun up than facing a police humiliation," an angry friend of Imran said.
However, Punjab Police has denied all the allegations and said that there was no harassment at all. "Cops were doing routine checking in the area and we never asked the landlord to throw the students out of their flat," senior police officer said.
