China: Tension between China and India has increased after Prime Minister Modi inaugurated country's longest bridge that links Arunachal Pradesh to its neighboring state Assam.
China on Monday asked India to be "cautious" and exercise "restraint" over building infrastructure in Arunachal Pradesh.
Since years, China claims Arunachal Pradesh as South Tibet. India has repeatedly rejected that stand, asserting that the border state is an integral part of India.
"We hope India adopts a cautious and restrained attitude on the issue before the final settlement of the border issue with China to jointly control disputes, safeguard peace and tranquility in the border areas," the Chinese Foreign Ministry told news agency IANS.
According to reports the bridge which was built at the cost of Rs 950 crore is strategically important for the military, as it can withstand a weight of 60-tonne battle tanks.
The bridge also cuts down the distance between Assam to Arunachal Pradesh by 165 kilometer reducing travel time from six hours to just one hour.
The bridge will ensure swift movement of Indian troops in Arunachal Pradesh which is unacceptable to China.
