Jammu: Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers party activist and local residents led by Harsh Dev Singh Chairman JKNPP staged a vociferous protest demonstration on the main highy at Nai Basti Jammu yesterday over poor sanitation in the area, resulting in suspension of vehicular traffic for more than an hour .
The demonstrators raised slogans against the administration and Jammu Muncipal corporation for there poor approach towards sanitation.
"H&UD must account for tge hundreds of crores of rupees recieved under sanitation and 'Swach Bharat Abhiyan" schemes," Harsh Dev said.
Shocked over the garbage dumps in Gandhi Nagar and brokem culverts over the Nallah at Nai Basti, Harsh said that unhygienic state of the nallah emanating foul odour had wrecked havoc among the local shopkeepers and the residents as the situation had led to breeding of mosquitoes besides infestation of rodents inside.
"Entire area had become epidemic prone with infectious diseases like Dengue,Malaria,Plague, Typhoid and influenza posing imminent threat in the vicinity, " he said.
