Injured in the grenade blast in Tral last Thursday, 35-year old Mushtaq Ahmed Sheikh from Tral-i-Payeen is battling for life at Surgical Intensive Care Ward of SKIMS Soura.
Sheikh, a salesman at a grocery store at Bus Stand Tral, was at work when a grenade was hurled just near his shop. He was seriously injured and his body was full of grenade splinters, his relatives said.
A doctor at SKIMS said, “The grenade splinters have penetrated into his brain, liver and intestines. The splinters have made perforation at various spots in his brain and intestines. We have operated upon him. But his condition is critical. He is on ventilator.”
Mushtaq has two minor sons. His elder son is studying in UKG and younger in LKG.
Another seriously injured in the incident is Shahid Shabir Lone, a 20-year old youth from Shahabad Tral. He is also undergoing treatment at SKIMS.
Lying on Bed no. 26 of ward 3, Shahid is recovering and his relatives hope that he will begin his new life without any hiccups.
Medical superintendent SKIMS told Greater Kashmir that both the patients have undergone various surgeries. “Shahid is almost stable but Mushtaq’s condition continues to be critical.”
